Koen & Linda Hartman
Greetings from the other side of the pond! We are Koen and Linda Hartman, working in the Netherlands. Linda is a native of the Columbus area and Koen is from the Netherlands. We met at Bethany College of Missions (MN) and recently celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. We have two children, Kirsten (1996) and Andreas (1998). After completing our studies and various involvements with short-term ministries overseas, we began working in France among Muslims, refugees and immigrants.
Since the fall of 2001 we have been working in the Netherlands. We continued our work among refugees, with a focus on Afghan immigrants in particular. We serve under the flag of Bethany International Ministries. (Part of Bethany Fellowship)
Afghan ministry:
Worship It is our hearts desire that the hearts and lives of Afghan Christians be stirred in the area of worship to the extent that it would birth songwriting, composing and recording for the glory of God and the edification of the body of Afghan believers worldwide. Magnifying God in a lifestyle of worship from one's own frame of (cultural) reference thus generating genuine worship from the heart.
Haqiqat Koen is involved with the Haqiqat team; an Afghan initiative which focuses on spirtually equiping the Afghan Christian. Haqiqat, which means truth, is an Afghan website with edifying articles and resources for the Afghan believer. Our desire is to also publish a Haqiqat magazine/bulletin in the future.
(Inter)national worship:
We seek to glorify God with our lives regardless of the circumstances ("in sickness or in health"). It is our desire to serve Christians with the giftings that God has given us. Koen serves in our local church both as a worship leader and musician. Occasionally there is also opportunity for serving beyond Holland. Koen is part of the YWAM Worship Network. As a couple we are involved with songwriting in both Dutch and English. We are thankful that some have been published.
Refugee/immigrant ministry:
This is an unique opportunity to reach out to least-reached peoples who are uprooted and searching. Like David, refugees need a Jonathan to visit them and help them find strength in God. (I Samuel 23:16). We, as a couple, are involved in providing pastoral care.
Prayer Targets
- Anointing and wisdom in ministry. Good health for our family
- Increased financial support (inflation, strong Euro rate affects our budget.)
