Czech Republic

Roger & Robin Harsh

Roger and Robin Harsh have been working in the Czech Republic since 1991. They were single missionaries who had worked extensively in short-term missions before moving to Czech Republic, where they met and married. Their two children, Elizabeth (12/15/99) and Josiah (12/18/00) have been a great joy to their lives. Their vision is "Building Up and Reaching Out". The Harshes are sent out by our partner church, Judah Christian Community.

The Harshes are involved with empowering and mentoring pastors and encouraging their congregations to be salt and light in their communities. They have been working with the Czech church Krestanske Spolecenstvi (Christian Fellowship) since 1994. There has been a real breakdown with marriage and family relationships in Czech and Eastern Europe as the result of Communism. Roger and Robin have a heart for Family and Marriage ministry. They teach a six session premarital seminar and are active on the Executive Council for National Marriage Week. They also teach marriage seminars. Many of the couples who come to the seminars are new Christians who come from non-Christian homes, so they are gaining a whole new perspective on what love and marriage are. Even some non-Christians have come to Christ at their seminars.

The Harshes are reaching out through taking teams to minister in Ukraine among the Gypsies. Roger has been working in Ukraine since 1993 and has a good working relationship with many pastors and Churches. Through Youth With A Mission, Roger and Robin are visiting refugees at camps in Czech. They teach Bible studies, bring humanitarian aid and clothing and minister to the children. Most of the camps are made up of people from the former Soviet Union; many are also from Muslim Countries. They also enjoy speaking at Evangelistic meetings at different churches in the Czech Republic. It is always a blessing to see people committing their lives to Christ. Also, helping their Czech church establish a Gypsy church plant has been exciting. The Harshes desire that their home would be used as a place where hospitality is practiced and people would receive nourishment and comfort in the presence of God.
