Kendall and Gina Cobb
Since 1998, the Cobb Family have been working, living and ministering in the beautiful northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai, often called by the locals as "The Rose of the North". In the Christian world, it has become known as the "Colorado Springs of Southeast Asia" for the many Christian mission agencies, organizations and Non-Government Organization's based here working in the surrounding countries of Burma, Cambodia, China, Laos and Vietnam.
These countries are home to several hundred people groups and languages, many of which do not have their own written language or even the gospel message in spoken form. Chiang Mai is considered a "springboard" for the 10/40 window. The 10/40 window could be called the "10/14" window, because there are more children between the ages of ten and fourteen in this window than any other area! This age group is still impressionable and can more easily be reached for Jesus.
The primary focus of Bibleway Ministries is to print & distribute tracts, teaching and training materials, Bibles, study aids, and audio-visual aids, in the many languages in Southeast Asia. This material is given to both non-believers and new believers. Their vision extends to providing and distributing materials to China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Burma, with a main focus on Burma, China & Thailand. Printing operations are actively working in both Burma and China.
In May 2004, Kendall & Gina opened up Bibleway Christian School (BCS) in the Mela Refugee camp where about 50,000 refugees live that have fled from the Burmese Army. Presently they have 400 students in Grades K - 7, being taught by 22 teachers and 11 full time evangelists. The Cobbs are hoping to add grades 8 to 10, as well as 12 more teachers. The Bible is the main subject taught, but with equal emphasis put on learning Math, Science, History, English, Health, and other subjects that will provide a better future for each of these children who would otherwise have no hope.
