Steve Campbell Senior Pastor
History - The Garden Church grew out of concern for the social, economic, physical and spiritual well-being of forgotten, overlooked and neglected people living in the inner city of Columbus Ohio. In 1996 a small group of committed Christians purchased the infamous Garden Burlesque Theater located in the Short North District of Columbus. In 2007, we reached an agreement with a neighboring church to purchase their building. The Garden Church has become recognized as a progressive leader in addressing the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of people mired in urban poverty, rescuing teens from the entrapment gang-infested culture, and providing meaningful support to distressed communities.
Overview of Our Work - The foundation stones of our work are: Community Outreach; Life-Skills Training; Educational Opportunities; and Guidance in Personal Development and Growth. Through these efforts people are developing healthy, positive relationships founded on practical principles. They are building fulfilling lives in the security of a distinctly Christian atmosphere.
The Call to Action While we strive to assist all who have needs, our focus is assisting those mired in urban poverty. We connect appropriate resources with those that need training, opportunity and empowerment. TGC is a mission church. Many of those we serve are the forgotten, overlooked and neglected of our culture. Most lack meaningful resources. On the surface they would seem to have little to offer. By the standards of our society they are "the people nobody wants."
If we are to reach them in meaningful ways we must bring significant resources in order to meet their incredible needs. In order to accomplish this TGC must raise half of our funding from outside individuals, churches and organizations. Your financial support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who need your help.
