Choco Project
Wycliffe Bible Translators

Andrew & Lindsay Flemming

There are more than 6,912 languages in the world. 2,251 language groups (nearly 200 million people) have yet to see the Word of God in their native tongue. Wycliffe Bible Translators is attempting to change that. In 1999 Wycliffe set a bold goal to begin a translation project in every language group of need by the year 2025.

Andrew and Lindsay are involved with the accomplishment of this goal in their roles as teachers in Quito, Ecuador at Alliance Academy. One of the most common reasons missionaries leave the field is out of concern for their children's education. The process of Bible Translation can be an arduous task that takes many years or even decades. In order to keep the translators in the field a large network of support staff, including teachers, is necessary.

Alliance Academy provides an American-style education for missionary students whose parent's missions are in Ecuador and the surrounding countries. Wycliffe missionaries are able to send their children to Alliance Academy at a greatly reduced cost because of Andrew and Lindsay's placement at the school.

We are so excited to use our gifts and talents to help in the fulfillment of Wycliffe's vision for 2025. Although our primary role will be teaching; we are excited about the multiple facets of this mission. Over sixty percent of our students are children of ambassadors, business people, and local dignitaries. They send their children to Alliance Academy in order to receive an American education. This is a tremendous opportunity to reach the leaders of tomorrow for Christ.

We are excited about the partnership between the Christian Community Network of Churches and David and Penelope Pickens who are translating for the Chocó people in Columbia. It's exciting to see what God is doing within this unreached people group and we look forward to partnering with you to further His kingdom.
